Land claim
C-prints, HD Videos, 2014-2015
Mining takes place in the dark, far away from the public eye. It is tied to a specific location, often in very remote places. Yet, the business is global, dictated by the market around the world.
«Land Claim» brings together three different locations: Raglan, a nickel mine in the arctic, accessible only by plane, with 800 workers on site. Zug, Switzerland, a known tax heaven, where the headquarter of the mining company is located. Aupaluk, an Inuit village in Nunavik, which is under threat by a planned iron mine.
